şeyma was born in berlin - kreuzberg and spent her childhood and youth there. she graduated in architecture and works as an architect. in addition, she is a freelance illustrator and has focused on digital work. with her works, she visually tells stories of migration, identification and the collective memory of an entire generation of diaspora children. she also picks up on socially critical events and current topics in order to draw attention. with her illustrations she wants to work against forgetting, to tell about the traditions of her family and the history of her grandparents, who came to germany as ´guest workers´. therefore shapes, colors and characters dance in relation to the search for belonging and the sense of home and the search for oneself.
